Competency measures the ability to do tasks combined with the knowledge to do them properly. In the event environment it is the ability to do things that counts. No amount of book or web reading will give your team these skills. For example - do they know about risk? But is that enough. It is as important to be able to handle risks. There are endless problems in events and your staff need training. Competency training combines the latest in knowledge , learning from past mistakes and at the same time: putting it into action, testing it and refining the knowledge and skills. This is very different from University lectures.
Are there gaps in your event teams? Do they know, for example the ISO 31000 and how it is applied? Would you prefer to know the gaps before the event – or when it is toooo late!
